i love this old guy so much i can't even handle it sometimes. he's given me a lot of worry lately, but i wouldn't trade this bagel for anything. since the last post there has been some more trouble, but he has bounced back from three transient ischemic attacks, and fingers crossed the worst is over now, because the past few days have been just lovely. to see him running about and being goofy fills my heart with immense joy, all i want is for basu to feel good and be happy.

my favourite butterfly is the mourning cloak, and especially so the first one each year, a bit tattered and worn but gorgeous nonetheless. we are starting to have some warmer days finally, and i saw one basking in the sun where all our late cats and one mouse have been buried, so it seemed extra meaningful.

another fave of mine is the white grape hyacinth, muscari botryoides 'alba'. we've got lots of blue ones in the garden and they scent the spring air so sweetly, but these pale, tiny pearls are what i most wait for.
