having learned that today and tomorrow are good for new growth, i had decided to transplant some aloë shoots into their own pots, and also sow some salad herbs & other seeds. for this i needed a bag of potting soil, which i did buy. it counts as food because that's what it is for the plants. i also got a clay pot and two glazed saucers. plus cooking oil and cereal. necessities.
i wasn't exactly paving the way for success when i went 'just looking' at the clothes shops... but it was a surprise to find things i really really wanted at indiska. girly whirly things. with flowers. (like the tintin tunic. -50% from the already on sale price!) i tried on all kinds of crazy combinations. i liked a skintight jersey dress, gray with orange and magenta flowers. i knew i had to leave. on the way out, eyed all kinds of recycled glassware with a mellow 'home-blown' look, lots of bubbles and unevenness. i saw tiny plants in them, bulbs in the spring, but resisted temptation.
food can be kind of a gray area for me, because i thoroughly enjoy grocery shopping and browse the produce isles for pleasure, often coming home with extra stuff. i was also super hungry by my last stop at the delicatessen of the department store... so i did fall for the crazy mushrooms again. this time the long, leggy and white enoki and something called shimejie, or beech mushroom. it's good for the immune system, to eat mushrooms. so i could argue that they even fall into the 'necessary' category.
with the purely healthy, not for fun mushrooms in my basket alongside the bananas, figs, grapefruit juice and an apple, i was so close to victory when i met my doom: reese's peanut butter cups. for goodness' sake! (we don't have them in the shops. they're a foreign, exotic, american thing. and oh yeah — i'm a complete sucker for them...)
and so i fail.
unless we all agree that peanut butter is plain food, and just ignore the chocolate.
