mushroom pizza! i didn't plan to eat it that way, it just happened (i like the crust). it turned out perfectly right even though i mostly just made it up as i went along, baking temperature and time and all. the dough hides spelt flour and thyme and for toppings i chose red onion, shiitake mushrooms and rucola (arugula). there is chili in the sauce and nori flakes (seaweed) somewhere in between. so good!

there is something seriously satisfying about the shape of a shiitake slice... and what's really nice is that the little plastic boxes the fabulous fungi come in make superb little greenhouses for seedlings. they're stackable too, so i'm saving both space and resources. things like this make me all giddy.
THREE BENEFITS
1 Velvety soft surface against skin. Do try it!
2 Lasts longer, because band is woven with sew-proof, coated elastic.
3 The length at your command — depending on how you cut the band.

why is it that vintage elastics are so durable and modern ones crumble away in a few measly years? and why is it that vintage cotton is so soft yet firm and modern fabrics are not? why do vintage shoes get passed on from generation to generation but modern ones fall apart in one season? i mean, i know why, but i'm asking: why?

i'm really happy with all the things i bought, despite that i'm not supposed to. the project is working, even though it might not seem so. i haven't made nearly as many craving-related purchases as usual. but i must admit i'm surprised how hard it has been, how much i rebel against myself. it's the shortest month of the year, after all. four weeks, merely. how difficult can it be? but this is an experiment, after all, and setbacks are part of the deal. (or so i tell myself.)

i wish i could post better pictures of my drawings than by taking photographs, but for some reason my scanner is even worse.
