1952 — 2011

...and another one gone. over the bed of an eight-year-old me, hung posters of ozzy osbourne and gary moore, the latter now deceased. his music was important for me in those fragile, awkward pre-teen years. eventually he went on to having the blues, still, and our ways parted but i bet i could play a cassette right now and know every song by heart.

what sad news sunday this is...

have a listen in on my childhood... i'm so dating myself with these!

1938 — 2011

today i was saddened to hear about the death of tura satana. an unlikely icon for someone like me, a petanko twig who abhors any kind of roughhousing, but i adored her. what began as visual appreciation, turned into deeper admiration when i wrote an article about her almost ten years ago and learned more about her life, how warm-hearted and strong she really was.

she will, of course, keep on living forever as a cult heroine. but i also believe a spirit like that can never really disappear. and i like the thought that she might be up there in heaven, teaching tassle-twirling to all the angels...
