how glorious, after eating a bowl or three of rice noodle soup with seaweed, shiitake, wild vegetables, and radishes, and a dessert (my new fave) of butter-fried finnish baked cheese topped with spruce shoot syrup, cinnamon and clove powder, and after all that still craving for chocolate, to remember that there is ice cream in the freezer, pecan and salty caramel, a whole lolly covered in chocolate. isn't life grand?

also, to wake up to a cool morning, thirteen instead of twenty-six in the shade (celcius, that is), windy and nice. to be able to wear mosquito-proof clothing and go into the woods, as is your nature, and roam free, basket in hand, gathering, finding... feathers so huge they must have fallen off a crane, new old roads diverging, until now unnoticed, right there all of a sudden... how the woods surprise every time, one way or another!

some cinder conk from a known source, a mutated starflower (left on the photo above), favourite bog blooming with marsh labrador tea, picking its flowers trying to avoid the tripping insects, perhaps a bit intoxicated oneself... and best of all, the cherished reishi stump now growing a new fungus, how precious and elating! (i broke it when lifting the old one on top of it, they were stuck together. i took the bit that came loose with me to try and cultivate it at home...)
