perhaps it is time to accept that winter has gone elsewhere and won't be coming back? it's not really spring yet, either, so i don't know what time of year this is. it's the time for seedlings and sprouts, i suppose, and for figuring out how to survive a year that will change everything.



i love forcing, or in this case rooting, blackcurrant branches indoors. the scent is so uplifting, i always rub the leaves a little when i pass by. blackcurrant is one the easiest plants to root from cuttings, they need no coaxing or bribing, they want to do it. gooseberry is good like that, too.



outdoors, the fungi have woken. i borrowed a book about dyeing with mushrooms and lichen from the library yesterday and i'm already dying with excitement, thinking about experimenting with everything that wasn't in the book! the possibilities are practically endless...
