that unopened packet was originally my birthday gift to myself. i sort of forgot, then saved it for x-mas... didn't feel like opening it then either, apparently. now i don't know. and since i do know what it is, it's easy to keep it unopened. and even though i know what it is, the suspense is a thrill... i guess i'm just funny that way.

i have beautiful, voluptuous, white carnations by my bed and they smell of cloves up close. i think i want to eat them... but i'm eating leftover leftover risotto i made yesterday instead. concocted of some hemp tofu, the last ladleful of homemade ketchup, half a red onion, a withered stalk of lemon thyme and crumbs of dried seaweed and porcini, this simple rice dish is such a feast of flavour. italy meets japan in a way i've never tasted before.

it's the vernal equinox. and the moon is quite full. kind of hard to handle all that light.
