today we were playing with the 'toy camera' effect. it's quite stark so i tweaked the photos a bit on picmonkey, too, where frankly there are better filters for this kind of thing anyway. could be useful if printing straight off the cam.

he never really goes in the kitchen on his own, but when i take basu baageli with me, he goes all a-brux with excitement. so many nooks and crannies to sniff out! and often delicious morsels to be found. today i let him 'discover' an acorn and let me tell you, that was something else. he hid it, and after having his breakfast porridge under the kitchen table, he then ate the acorn as a dessert between some storage boxes.

the recycling is always the bee's knees, great fun to topple my piles over and such, gnaw on the cardboard a little... every now and then he wants to climb onto my lap for a rest, soon he's off again. his joy just makes my day. as i'm typing this, basu is asleep in his nest, looking so content. i bet he's wiped out. he'll nap all day and in the evening the shenanigans will start again.

i still worry about him not having ratty company, but it's been a relief to see that he didn't become miserable and lonely after paroni's death. it would be different if i was gone all day every day, but as it is, he's the one who fends off my affections and retires to his nest when he's had enough. i feel more of the above than that rat, for sure.

finally, my favourite photo from this morning: the amazing disappearing basu bijou!
