part two of leftovers from the same original brussels sprouts dinner: fried rice. i planned to make a maple leaf salad to go with this, but they looked so lovely i couldn't bear the thought of cutting them just yet... i'm so desperate for a bit of green already!
the knitting seems to be making me cranky. i avoid it whenever possile and for any reason, even though i really need to finish this in a couple of weeks. maybe that's why, maybe it's because no matter how much i love the colour, it's not what i wanted now, for this. but it's starting to resemble a garment already. i didn't want to use a contrast colour like in the original pattern, so i'm making the striping using purl rows, really only to keep the knitting from being completely monotonous. i'm all about no-seam constructions but 2oo or so stitches per row make me yawn. i'm not sure i like that decision either. but there's no pulling back now.
my new 'three season' sleeping bag arrived by post and i've been sleeping in it ever since... i have no excuse for last night anymore, but before i tried testing how warm it is by leaving the heating off overnight (i've not heated during the day for some weeks now when it's been sunny). but the house only cooled down a few degrees. i need to find a place to sleep that's under 10°C! the lowest comfortable temperature is marked +4°C for women but supposedly i could survive in -19°C... i'm not sure about the three seasons, though. it's not unheard of for temps to drop below zero at night as late as june, which we consider summer.
i kind of blew my budget buying it, but i have no regrets. it's warm (hopefully), pretty and packs small. it feels silky and has a little puffy collar for extra warmth which makes me laugh every time. there's an inner pocket and a little tab on the zip that says 'SLEEP WELL' which is my favorite thing. as always, i'm convinced that it doesn't pay to buy cheap when you're poor. (but it's always a good idea to hunt for bargains!)
