hello there, gorge-relles! went blueberry-picking late tonight, from eight thirty to ten, and stumbled upon gold. well, all right, not so much stumbled as went over to see if the chanterelles had already come up in the ditch where they always grow, but still. a surprise. i expected a couple of button knobs peeking from the moss. glad i took my basket just in case.
the blueberries were on the small side and just ever-so un-ripe enough that they kind of clung to the twigs, resisted my fingers just enough to feel it. but even the raw, pinky-purply ones look beautiful. i wonder if the wax that coats them has yet been harnessed to use in cosmetics. i'm willing to be it would make everything look fantastic, matte and glowy at the same time.
eating a lot of blueberries is probably the easiest way to get that effect, though.
