i know next to nothing about these polypores, but i've always loved the look of them. and how they feel, especially the chamois-like underside. the only thing i know is that once dry, they burn very slowly without a flame, were used to keep the embers alive in the hearth overnight, and also as tinder. i would, too, if i could.
