the first blue anemones are opening, last year i lamented their slight toxicity, today i learned that while true for the fresh herb, when it is dried the toxic compound changes into non-toxic anemonin. i have to look into the matter further, but perhaps i can have my cup of pennywort tea after all.

working on the mess business, here's some of the crap i picked up by the side of the road on my way to the mailbox and back. i didn't wade into the ditches or anything. all of this someone decided to dispose of improperly, and it makes me so mad. my guess is most of it has been flung from a car window, which just makes it so much worse.

these guys are lot more aesthetic. i combed through the ashes of the pyre for metal parts. the second face i didn't even have to make. it used to be vacancy indicator from our bathroom door, the mouth part would turn from white to red once the door was locked. found lots of useful scraps like this for artsy pursuits.

i also see so many faces in this fungus-infested birch branch...
