here's an average thing i've been eating: quinoa with broccoli and avocado (from the supermarket) and sea beet leaves from the cliffs of scilly (still loving that it's pronounced 'silly'), garnished with three-cornered leek flowers and chives. it's been a big leap from home, where nettle was barely starting to shoot, to having a full-grown herb garden and wild vegetables galore.

this plant gaol (jail) is on the street i'm currently staying, featherbed lane i think it's called. it just caught my eye one day. i really adore the little fern that grows everywhere here. i will try to bring some home with me for a terrarium. there is so much i want to have for keeps, i think it would be easier just to stay...

this strange, expanded beetle was walking on our path in the cliffs of garrettstown strand and almost got trampled over. it was soft and squishy to the touch (i did not really squish it, though!) and had the same kind of vents on its sides that you see on fishermen's hats. it must have been full of eggs, the odd thing.

i went to garrettstown twice last weekend, since i was lucky enough to get a ride. it's my favourite place on earth, i must say, the beach. i could lose hours just walking up and down the strand at low tide, looking at all the different coloured stones. i've been very good and have not picked many up, but i did sneak a couple in my pockets. i also found one that is a perfect pestle shape. now if only i could find the mortar...

i've been in bed with fever since yesterday, but i'm impressed i lasted a whole week before getting sick. i'm feeling much better already, i think i just pushed myself too far with all the activity every day, and definitely let my poor old kidneys get a bit cold. so here i am, once again reminded to respect my body and listen to it more.

there's a party at the house tonight though, and i also want to go see some performances at the college theatre before it, so i could be headed for another meltdown already... i just hate being so feeble when my heart is yearning to be out there by the sea wandering away. best put some chaga tea in my system, then...
