this door pull i scavenged while taking out the trash a couple weeks ago. someone had dumped a whole door, so i was quick to run back upstairs to fetch pliers and unscrew the peculiar flat bolt, while a neighbour gave me sideways glances. these are original fittings, i've got the same ones, so they date circa 1964. i have an unhealthy infatuation with them. for me, a kitchen is not a kitchen if the cabinets have different hardware. the frugality of the design pleases me. plain and simple.

but what to do with this treasure? none of the twenty-six pulls in my apartment are missing. i couldn't think of a good use, but then it was the book about camilla engman to the rescue! not only was i inspired and delighted when it arrived in the mail, but also filled up with envy hope. perhaps and maybe, little by little, i'm on my way to finding all the pieces it takes to put together one of these:
