first there were oven-roasted brussels sprouts in false morel sauce, then there was soup. there's also a poached egg in there somewhere. leftovers are the best.
i've had to curb my indoor gardening to a minimum since i'll be gone all may long. but a girl's gotta have something... clockwise from top left: two carrot tops, mitsuba seedlings, a sprouted garlic clove, a bit of hopeful ginger and a straggly sunflower from a mystery seed. (i knew it was a sunflower seed but i have no idea where it came from.)
spring is three weeks late but today i felt it coming. there was life on the anthill, lady's mantle had unfolded from the bud, i bared a bit of leg while sitting on the stoop sunbathing. i have a few square metres of snowless ground and so far have been raking it, pulling up weeds and old stalks, and fertilizing with the beer i found in the ditch last fall... some of the cans got frozen into the ground when winter came early. it's been a long one, this.
haven't been knitting at all today, i've been so busy clearing things up and pottering about outdoors. and making this very classy and informative (not) video about today. it's just nice to remember sometimes that life is okay even at its most mundane. so here's me taking out the compost scraps:
